On April 16, 2015, Rabin Martin President and CEO Jeff Sturchio moderated the panel, “Leveraging Lessons Learned to Build Health Systems” during the Corporate Council on Africa’s 2015 Health Forum, Building a Stronger, Healthier Africa, in Washington, DC. The panel featured five health systems experts working in government, industry and the non-profit sector throughout Africa, including Ambassador Jimmy Kolker, Assistant Secretary for Global Affairs, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Mohamed Diaré, Minister of Economy and Finance, Guinea; Dr. SAS Kargbo, Director for Health Systems, Policy, Planning and Information, Republic of Sierra Leone; Samer Al Hallaq, Vice President, Africa Partnership Program and Gulf States Marketing Company President, AstraZeneca; and Dr. Isaac Malonza, Kenya Country Director, Jhpiego. The panelists addressed the capacity of public-private partnerships to address a range of health issues, from viral epidemics to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and discussed strategies for creating partnerships by acting on the momentum ignited by the Ebola response.
