Kawthar has more than 10 years of experience in infectious disease epidemiology and the investigation of novel or rare diseases. She specializes in the mobilization and global deployment of disease investigation teams, design and implementation of field data collection tools, and the qualitative and quantitative aspects of monitoring and evaluation of public health programs.

At Rabin Martin, Kawthar:

  • Provides operational, technical, and strategic support for a global maternal mortality initiative
  • Helps clients understand the landscape and stakeholder perspectives for new areas of investment


Before joining the firm, Kawthar managed global pathogen discovery efforts for a team of over 20 investigators across 50 or more projects at any given time. She acted as the liaison for the U.S. government ChemBio defense program and various stakeholders worldwide. Kawthar has advised government and academic agencies in outbreak situations; particularly the Saudi Arabian Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) epidemic. She also has experience working as a Monitoring and Evaluation officer in the South East Asian region focusing on maternal and reproductive health programs.
