In November, the Government of Indonesia hosted the 5th Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Ministerial meeting, bringing together delegations from governments, multilateral organizations, NGOs and the private sector to discuss the progress achieved to-date in strengthening health security capacity since the start of the GHSA and chart the way forward for the next phase of the initiative, “GHSA 2024.”
The Private Sector Roundtable, a coalition of companies that mobilizes industry to support countries in strengthening health security capacity, and of which Rabin Martin is Secretariat, sent a delegation of representatives from eight member companies to the Ministerial meeting to represent the voice and role of the private sector in the GHSA. Members spoke in plenary and side sessions, met with government officials and hosted a side event on expanding public-private alliances in global health security. At the Ministerial, the Private Sector Roundtable was announced as a permanent member of the GHSA Steering Group for GHSA 2024. This development is an indication of the growing recognition of the role of private sector partners in this space, going beyond their role as funders and paving the way for them to better leverage their unique capabilities and expertise in working with countries to strengthen systems for health security.
