A Global Governance Puzzle: The Private Sector in Global Public Health

On March 10, Rabin Martin President and CEO Jeff Sturchio addressed a crowd at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Waterloo, Ontario on the role of private sector engagement in global health. In his talk, Dr. Sturchio explores how the private sector can best leverage its financial and human resources to expand access to care and improve global health standards. Highlighting Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, NJ USA’s collaboration with several Ministries of Health and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)’s partnership with over 700 private companies, Dr. Sturchio demonstrates how strong political will coupled with private sector innovation can create partnerships greater than the sum of their individual parts.
