Get to know Genevieve

Tell us a fun fact about your life outside of work.

I recently bought a road bike and have really enjoyed going on long bike rides along the Toronto waterfront. I’m slowly working my way up to longer rides with country roads and rolling hills. I also have really fallen in love with cooking over the last few years, and really enjoy hosting dinner parties for family and friends.

What is your area of expertise and how did you end up there?

While I may not consider myself an “expert” in this area, I hold a deep passion for mental health and addictions as a broad aspect of healthcare. Over the course of my career, I have undertaken multiple projects focused on mental health and addictions, including strategic and operational planning, and supporting the design of frameworks for psychotherapy programming. My interest largely began in my second year of my Master of Public Policy program, where I took a course entitled “Policy Development” and completed a project on the mental health policy landscape in Ontario, which then lead me to taking several public health courses. My education and experience working on mental health and addictions-related projects opened my eyes to the profound disparities in the mental health care and addictions space which have unfortunately only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m very much looking forward to opportunities that allow me to deepen my knowledge of this healthcare area not only in North America but globally, as well as learning more about how the social determinants of health inform mental health care and access.

What is your favorite aspect of Rabin Martin and the work you do?

My favorite aspect of Rabin Martin, first and foremost, is the diversity of projects we take on. My portfolio is incredibly varied and I’m never working on only one thing. That comes with incredible learning opportunities; our work is grounded in research, allowing me to deepen my understanding of different healthcare, policy, and therapeutic areas every single day. This is what makes working at Rabin Martin so dynamic and interesting.

What makes you proud to work at Rabin Martin?

I’m proud to work at Rabin Martin because of the team culture and approach to how we work. My colleagues are always keen to offer guidance when needed, challenge one another, and work together to create the best solutions for our clients. I’m also proud of how the Rabin Martin team specifically and organically tailors work to meet client needs; there is no cookie cutter approach taken to anything that we do.
