To achieve universal healthcare, the WHO needs to be open to working with the private sector
Amid discussions centering on universal health coverage (UHC) and the recent restructuring of the World Health Organization (WHO) at the 72nd World Health Assembly, Jeffrey L. Sturchio, Rabin Martin CEO, and Professor Louis Galambos, Johns Hopkins University, published an op-ed in euronews. on the importance of the WHO being open to working with the private sector if we are to achieve universal health coverage. The WHO must “engage in constructive partnerships or continue down a path where key stakeholders are excluded… An openness to explore new opportunities for partnership — with the private sector and others in civil society — will ensure that the WHO can lead a successful transformation in how the world responds to the health challenges ahead.”
